XchokeholdX Very Useful! Mar 15, 2007
It took me a long time (3 months) to find out why all Clave players included this guy into their decks. I always figured it would be a lot easier to just kill my opponent’s fleet, and kill their Hero (read: Leader) with it. Simple as that. Until I ran into a few Human decks.

I lost a few times horribly (even last Galaxy cup!) when I realized my bombers were not doing their job. I figured at first a bug. But no, all those people with influence on MY Artifact planets were no ordinary Citizens, they were Hero’s. Landing Party, Remote Informant. They are all Hero’s. It struck me like lightning: Not all Hero’s are leaders!, or better yet, not all influence is from citizens!

Then a few days later I claimed my first big bounty with him: Professor Hernandez. And now I fully understand the power of Bounty hunter.

Next thing I know, players are evacuating their Artifact planets when he is on its way. (That big fleet transporting him could also have something to do with it.)

I used to pack 1 of him in my decks, not sure how to use him, but now I do. I want him in play as fast as possible to hunt some bounty!

I also disregarded his “penalty” when he arrives at the Starchamber, I just figured, keep him away from there and he will do fine, not a real penalty. Then I read his text better and realized that he can hunt for nice, juicy bounty at the Starchamber too. Sure, the guards will catch him and execute him at the end of the turn, but he can do its work! This is the guy the Emperor has nightmares over in his sleep.

The price is right if you get to know the true power of the bounty hunter. Getting +8 Destiny for a measly kill of “no one important” at the Starchamber makes this guy almost a must have in Clave decks.

Now if he only would have some doctors look at that nasty Zit in his neck…

I love this guy. He can get rid of enemy heros over and over, just by being local to them. Wait, what? When he kills them he also gives you +3 destiny? That is fantastically useful! I like several sound effects in Star Chamber but the sound of my Bounty Hunter killing their Remote Informant might be the best. Or Desciple of Roots. I like seeing them both die. Also, if there is some hero at the Star Chamber that you really, really want dead you can go ahead and send the Bounty Hunter to the Star Chamber. He will kill the hero before the security finds him and destroys his cold blooded butt. Also, with only 1L in his tech cost, feel free to splash him into any entropy deck that needs to kill heros.
